The 1997 Port Tiki 500 was a major racing event in the OUS Racing Series. It was the first Port Tiki 500 to occur. The race was held on June 14, 1997.
At the start of the race, Eddy Effner didn't start his car on time and Erika Patti ran into him. Tyson Scott spun into the wall on the fourth turn of Lap 5. In Lap 167, Yvette Bretina caused a twelve-car crash in turn 3. The race finished with Dennis Doro winning.
